Group Constitution 


1.0 NAME

There shall continue to be the Association called the "ROYAL COLLEGE GROUP OF '86" (hereinafter sometimes called and referred to as the “Group")

2.0 OBJECTIVES

2.1 The Group accepts in toto and shall at all times act in conformity with and in furtherance of the objects of the Royal College Union as set out in Article 2 of its Constitution.

2.2 The other objects of the Group are:

2.2.1 to promote and advance the economic and general welfare of members of the Group.

2.2.2 to maintain the interest of members of the Group in the Royal College.

2.2.3 to establish and manage trusts, funds, scholarships, bursaries, etc. for any of the purposes set out above.

3.0 ELIGIBILITY FOR MEMBERSHIP

Any past student of the Royal College or Royal Junior School who belongs to anyone or more of the following categories shall be eligible for membership of the Group.

3.1 Any student who entered Grade I of the Royal Junior School in or during the academic year 1974.

3.2 Any student who entered the Royal Junior School in or during any academic year subsequent to 1974 and joined the grade to which the batch of students referred to in Article 3.1 belonged in that year.

3.3 Any student of Grade V of the Royal College in or during the academic year 1978 (the year in which Royal College and Royal Junior School were amalgamated).

3.4 Any student who entered the Royal College in or during any academic year subsequent to 1978 and joined the grade to which the batch of students referred to in Article 3.3 belonged in that year.

3.5 Any student who entered Grade VI of the Royal College in or during the academic year 1979 (including those students who had qualified to do so in either the Royal College Grade VI Entrance Examination or the Grade V Scholarship Examination).

3.6 Any student of Grade X of the Royal College in or during the academic year 1983 and/or sat for the General Certificate in Education (Ordinary Level) Examination as a student of Royal College in the year 1983.

3.7 Any student who entered Grade XI of the Royal College in or during the academic year 1984 /1985.

3.8 Any student of Year 13 (Grade XII) of the Royal College in or during the academic year 1985 / 1986 and/or sat for the General Certificate in Education (Advanced Level) Examination as a student of Royal College in the year 1986.

4.0 CATEGORIES OF MEMBERSHIP AND MEMBERSHIP FEES

Membership of the Group shall be of the following categories:

4.1 Ordinary Membership

Any person eligible for membership of the Group as provided in Article 3.0 hereof may be admitted as an Ordinary Member on payment of a membership fee of Rs. 100.00 such membership shall terminate after a period of five years from the date of admission and may be renewed on the same terms for a further period of five years.

4.2 Life Membership

Any person eligible for membership of the Group as provided in Article 3.0 hereof may be admitted as a Life Member on payment of a membership fee of Rs.1,000.00

5.0 APPLICATION FOR MEMBERSHIP

5.1 Every application for membership shall be on the relevant form and shall be may be accompanied by the proper fee payable for the category of membership sought by the applicant.

5.2 Every application shall be tabled at a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Group which is hereby empowered to:

5.2.1 to admit the applicant as a member in the proper category or

5.2.2 to refuse to admit the applicant as a member without assigning any reason therefor; or

5.2.3 to call for any further information which it deems necessary or relevant for a proper consideration of the application
